Vladimir Putin: ASEAN – Russia Summit will help line up new promising projects

Speaking at the ceremony of accepting letters of credence from 16 foreign ambassadors at the Kremlin on 20 April, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the ASEAN — Russia Commemorative Summit, which is to be held in Sochi on 19-20 May, will allow Russia and the ASEAN member-states to map out new areas of cooperation.

"We are preparing actively for this big international event, which will give us the opportunity to look back over 20 years of productive cooperation between Russia and the countries of Southeast Asia, and to outline promising new projects," the President said.

He expressed the hope that the participants will discuss the prospects for developing cooperation between ASEAN and the Eurasian Economic Union and that the summit will help to bolster the spirit of trust and cooperation throughout the whole Eurasian area.
