Vladimir Putin meets with Indonesian President Joko Widodo

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in Sochi with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who is in Russia on an official visit.

The two heads of state addressed the status and prospects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, and the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Following consultations, a package of cooperation documents was signed in the presence of the countries' presidents:

1. An agreement on defence cooperation between the Russian government and the Indonesian government.

2. A memorandum of mutual understanding on archival cooperation between the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.

3. A cultural cooperation programme for 2016-2018 between the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Indonesian Ministry of Culture.

4. A joint statement on mutual understanding and cooperation in the prevention of illegal, unreported and unregulated catching of marine resources and sustainable fisheries management between the Federal Agency for Fisheries (the Russian Federation) and the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

5. A memorandum of archival cooperation between the Federal Archival Agency (the Russian Federation) and the Indonesian National Archive.
